Virtual Event to Focus on Solutions for Easier Building of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs)
San Jose, CA – February 1, 2022 – Housing Trust Silicon Valley, a nonprofit community loan fund, today announced its CEO, Noni Ramos, will join senior Biden-Harris Administration officials, local government officials, researchers, financial institutions, and practitioners in a virtual White House event that will highlight leading models for easier and scaled production of ADUs. This event, which takes place today at 11am PT, is part of a broader series addressing supply constraints in the housing market.
Since 2000, Housing Trust Silicon Valley has been making the greater Bay Area a more affordable place to live through loans and grants to support affordable housing. Its programs and partnerships have helped to provide over 20,000 safe, stable and affordable housing solutions to those experiencing homelessness, to renters and even first-time home buyers.
“Housing shortages—and the associated social and economic consequences—have afflicted families across the U.S. for decades and it is an issue that is only increasing in severity. With the Biden-Harris Administration taking action to alleviate this shortage, including increasing low-cost financing options for affordable housing, we are encouraged that tangible progress will be made to provide ADUs to families in need of stable, affordable and quality housing.”

ADUs have the potential to increase housing solutions in undersupplied markets and provide financial advantages to both homeowners and renters by enabling homeowners to add ADUs to their property for sale or for rent. State and local land-use regulations and a lack of financing options to build ADUs at scale are among the issues being addressed at the virtual event.
