Applied Materials’ Long-Time Support of Housing Trust Silicon Valley Helps Thousands Access Affordable Housing

For the past 17 years, Applied Materials has been committed to supporting Housing Trust Silicon Valley’s efforts to improve the lives of low and moderate income individuals and families by creating affordable housing opportunities.
From its initial investment of $1 million in the formation of the Housing Trust in 2000 to its most recent $25,000 grant for the Finally Home program in spring 2017, Applied Materials and its foundation have been important allies in Housing Trust’s work to help thousands of local residents gain access to affordable housing.

“Applied Materials was one of the first corporations to step up and take action with us to tackle the region’s affordable housing crisis,” said Kevin Zwick, CEO of the Housing Trust. “Its commitment to our mission has been steadfast and invaluable.”

Altogether, Applied Materials and its foundation have contributed nearly $2 million to the work of the Housing Trust, which includes programs to provide assistance to first-time homebuyers and help people experiencing, or at risk of experiencing homelessness move into safe, stable housing. The company is also the title sponsor of the annual Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot, a Thanksgiving Day event started in 2005 that has raised millions of dollars for local safety net organizations including the Housing Trust.

“Applied Materials demonstrates its core value of making a positive contribution to the community through support of The Housing Trust, the Turkey Trot and other local projects.” said Joe Pon, corporate vice president at Applied Materials. “We support the Housing Trust to help ensure that the region’s most vulnerable individuals and families have a stable place to call home.”
