Affordable Housing Month is a big effort engaged in by a lot of committed partners, and we’d like to take a moment to acknowledge Non-Profit Housing Association of Northern California. If the last few months have taught us anything it is that a definitive and timely response to a crisis can make a huge difference – and there are some actions we just can’t wait on.
We are a longtime member of the NPH and have admired their consistent forward-thinking advocacy and equity work that keeps affordable housing going. As state, federal and local governments were responding to the immediate economic fallout of COVID-19, NPH, along with All Home, laid out a framework of legislative goals for Speaker Nancy Pelosi to pursue that would make a real difference to those who need affordable housing. Housing Trust is proud to count ourselves among the 100+ organizations that signed on to the letter.
On the eve of Affordable Housing Month, NPH and California Housing Partnership held a panel discussion over Zoom titled ‘COVID-19 and Affordable Housing in California: Lenders and Investors Respond, which helped show how each phase of affordable housing is changing in the COVID-19 environment. Well over 700 were in attendance, and our board member Lisa Gutierrez of US Bank were among the panelists. Their new Affordable Housing Month website is not only useful, but a reminder that we are all #InItTogether with housing.
