Empower Homebuyers SCC Update

Our Homeownership team continues to work remotely while finding ways to keep potential homebuyers engaged. In June and July, we held five Empower Homebuyers SCC Zoom webinars and a Lender Training, with about 320 attendees. To change things up and make the informational presentations even more interesting, the team introduced poll questions, which increased engagement and helped us understand where people were at in their journey to owning a home.

In a recent webinar, we learned that more than 50% of the first-time homebuyer attendees felt urgency around buying, hoping to purchase in the next 3-6 months, and the rest are hoping to do so within one year.

The team closed out the 2020 fiscal year with 15 households who received down payment assistance and became first time homeowners thanks to the Measure A funded program created by the County of Santa Clara and administered by Housing Trust. The loan helps low to moderate income households with up to 17% of a home’s purchase price.

We’re glad to help people get started on their journey to homeownership and hope to see you in a future webinar. More online events are planned for new homebuyers, Realtors, and Lenders. Visit our calendar here.
