On April 6, our homeownership team held its first Spanish-language webinar on Empower Homebuyers SCC – the downpayment assistance program created by the County of Santa Clara that we administer. Co-hosted by the City of Gilroy the event had over 80 attendees and was covered by Telemundo 48.
Since Empower Homebuyers SCC was first launched, our homeownership team has been committed to make sure information reaches as many potential first-time homebuyers in Santa Clara County as possible. Before the April 6 event Housing Trust published fliers on our homebuyer programs – including Empower – in English, Tagalog, Vietnamese and Spanish and recently created four short YouTube videos in each language as a small step in our diversity, equity and inclusion work.
Telemundo 48 interviewed a family who became first-time homebuyers thanks to Empower as well as our director of Homebuyer programs, Adria Quinones-Masur the day of the presentation in a story that aired that evening.
