Ruby Street Apartments rendering

Housing Trust has made a $4.6 million loan to Eden Housing for Ruby Street Apartments. As our 8th loan in Alameda County in the last six years, this Castro Valley loan continues Housing Trust’s regional expansion and brings the total number of affordable homes Housing Trust has helped finance there past 500!

The proposed project is four stories and 72 homes – half of which will be two- and three-bedroom homes for larger families. All of the homes will serve families earning 60% AMI or less.

The development will have energy efficient features including solar panels and a solar water heater, along with connections for charging electric cars. The project will also include a private courtyard for residents, shared community space, new trees and a connection to the future San Lorenzo Creek Trail.

This loan to Eden Housing follows the recent one made to the organization for SJ Auzerais Apartments – the 130 affordable home transit-oriented development in downtown San Jose.

Previously, the most recent Housing Trust loan made in the county for Resources for Community Development’s Fremont Islander project late last year.
