We believe our communities are more diverse, sustainable, and vibrant when everyone has a safe, stable and affordable place to live. While we’ve been able to practice this belief throughout the thirteen county greater Bay Area, we’ve had the pleasure of seeing it up close, too.
Villas on the Park, an 84 apartment complex on Second Street in downtown San Jose, is a joint venture between Affirmed Housing Group, Inc. and People Assisting the Homeless (PATH). Housing Trust provided a $1 million predevelopment loan for the project and our Finally Home security deposit grant program is assisting the majority of the residents. Villas on the Park was built to provide 78 apartments for permanent supportive housing and five apartments for interim housing for up to 20 residents – all for individuals who have incomes below 35% of area median income. Villas on the Park is also the second Measure A funded multifamily project to open – out of many Measure A developments currently in the County’s pipeline.
Some of the residents have already begun moving in, and we’ve happily noted a few stories in the media profiling some of the residents, including a feature in the San Jose Mercury News and in San Jose Spotlight.
We walked over to Villas on the Park on the afternoon of December 11th. We noticed one of the residents on the upper floor set up some Christmas lights on the railing of their balcony. We love that this holiday season someone will get to look out at a city from a place they can call home – thanks to the work so many did.
