Google’s TECH Fund Investments Head to Work

Rendering of 4th and Younger

TECH Fund is Housing Trust’s affordable housing investment vehicle created to both encourage greater Bay Area employers and philanthropic organizations to invest in affordable housing and enable developers to compete for land on the open market. As of today the investors in TECH Fund include Cisco, Google, Grove Foundation, LinkedIn, NetApp, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Pure Storage and Sobrato Family Foundation.

Google was the most recent to join the TECH Fund initiative – making an investment this past July. About a month later it was announced a portion of the investment – along with aid from the Supportive Housing Fund – was going to help PATH acquire a property at 4th and Younger to create 93 affordable homes. Just a couple of weeks ago, another portion of the TECH Fund investment went to help Affirmed Housing acquire a property on Bascom Avenue in San Jose – aimed to create 88 homes.

Since March 2017, TECH Fund has helped finance over 2,400 homes across 22 developments. As Katie Ferrick from LinkedIn wrote in her inspiring essay, life-changing community investments are made by organizations when ordinary people step forward. Please click here for more information about our TECH Fund
