We just had another one of our ‘Representation and Leadership’ coffee & chat meetings. It’s a regularly scheduled event we have as part of our ongoing diversity, equity and inclusion work and just a good chance for our still-mostly-virtual teams to get together over Zoom.
This time we met with Hilda Ramirez, CEO of Keller Williams Silicon City and Housing Trust board member. She talked about her experience growing up as the daughter of immigrants, and spoke of the foundational value purchasing a home had for her family and how it shapes her current work with the National Hispanic Organization of Real Estate Professionals to create more first time homebuyers.
She also gave a shout-out to our Empower Homebuyers SCC program, which helps first-time buyers come up with a down payment, and stressed how important it is to make sure everyone has equitable access to information and education in buying a home.
And as a longtime champion of affordable housing, Hilda also reminded us of the importance of continuous investment in the communities we’re serving – and that a home is so much more than a roof over one’s head.
Hilda, thank you for joining us this morning, being a part of our board, and helping us celebrate Hispanic Heritage month.
